Strasbourg, France – The UEPG Delegates Assembly of the European Aggregates Association (UEPG) elected Jesús Ortiz as new President with a 3-year mandate. He will be ably supported by Vice-Presidents Thilo Juchem (MIRO, Germany) and Nigel Jackson (MPA, UK).
Jesús Ortiz is 54 years old and is since 2007 General Manager for HeidelbergCement activities in Spain. Since January 2013, Jesús Ortiz is as well Director Competence Center for Aggregates and Concrete Materials, Northern/Western Europe – Benelux – Africa – Mediterranean Basin and Country Manager Spain of HeidelbergCement. He succeeds as President of UEPG to Arnaud Colson, UEPG President 2012-2015, Sustainable Development and Environment Director at Lafarge, France. Master Degree in Management from Sup De Co Clermont-Ferrand (France) and MBA from INSEAD (France), Jesús Ortiz has worked between 1983 and 1989 as Diplomatic Commercial Attaché (French Ministry for Economy and Finance) at different Africa and Turkey French Embassies and at Lorraine Prefecture (France) Direction for Foreign Trade. In 1989 he joined Italcementi Group at La Défense Group Headquarters (France) and then held different operational responsibilities in its Spain operations. Between 2003 and 2007 he served as Managing Director at Italcementi Group activities in Greece and Bulgaria.
Jesús Ortiz has been Board Member of different Trade Associations of the Extractive Industry’s Sectors in Greece, Bulgaria and Spain. Since 2008 he has been Board Member and Treasurer of ANEFA the Spanish Aggregates Producers Association and since 2013 Board Member of UEPG representing the Spanish Aggregates Federation (FdA).
